Video Blog: Danielle O'Banion on trips to Central Michigan and Akron

The Golden Flashes head coach had practice this morning followed by a trip to visit a recent signee.

Prior to that, she checked in with this video blog previewing Wednesday night's road game at Central Michigan and a visit to arch-rival Akron on Saturday.

You can listen to all of the action from Wednesday's game on WHLO 640 AM and on iHeartRadio's Golden Flashes Channel. And on Saturday, we hope you'll come to James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron to cheer on the Flashes as they battle for another half point in the Wagon Wheel Challenge.

Here's today's video, and Go Flashes!

Basketball Programs Help Give Local Children a Happy Holiday

During the beginning of basketball season leading up to the holiday break, the men’s and women’s basketball teams held a toy drive to donate to Project KARE.

Project KARE is a charitable organization that works to address the needs of abused, neglected or dependent children and their families.  The program has numerous annual programs and projects to aid children in the community.

During home basketball games at the M.A.C. Center, bins were set out and approximately 100 stuffed animals, two wagons, ten educational games, five basketballs and other items were donated.

“We as an athletic department are extremely proud of basketball hosting the toy drive over the course of the fall,” said Academic Advisor Kyra Kendrick, who helped oversee the initiative.  “They raised more than 100 toys to give back to the community that continually supports our basketball programs.”

The drive ended in late December to ensure the toys would be delivered to children in need in time for the holidays.

For more information on Project KARE or to help give back, visit the program’s website via Stark County Job and Family Services.
