During the beginning of basketball season leading up to the
holiday break, the men’s and women’s basketball teams held a toy drive to
donate to Project KARE.
Project KARE is a charitable organization that works to
address the needs of abused, neglected or dependent children and their
families. The program has numerous annual
programs and projects to aid children in the community.
During home basketball games at the M.A.C. Center, bins were
set out and approximately 100 stuffed animals, two wagons, ten educational
games, five basketballs and other items were donated.
“We as an athletic department are extremely proud of
basketball hosting the toy drive over the course of the fall,” said Academic
Advisor Kyra Kendrick, who helped oversee the initiative. “They raised more than 100 toys to give back
to the community that continually supports our basketball programs.”
The drive ended in late December to ensure the toys would be
delivered to children in need in time for the holidays.
